Rootz Banana Peanut Butter Smoothie Bowl

Ever since I became a nutritional therapist, I became extremely picky about any processed foods I included in my every day diet. Since I eat a vegetarian based diet, I try to incorporate meals with protein powder a few times a week. It is usually in the form of a shake or smoothie bowl. I am super picky about my protein powders. Here is what I typically look for in a protein powder.

  1. CLEAN INGREDIENTS. I feel weird consuming something that I can't pronounce. Honestly, sugar has like 800 different names now-a-days so I want to ensure the ingredients are minimal and I am familiar with them.

  2. TASTE. Have you ever tried those protein powders where you can barely even take down? Trust me, I have done my research and wasted lots of time and money on trying different protein powders. This Chocolate Banana Nut flavor literally tastes like heaven.

  3. PROTEIN source should be dairy-free and soy-free. I was so happy to learn that this protein powder comes from egg white protein (one of the best sources of protein for leaning out), Sacha Inchi Protein and Hemp Protein.

  4. GREENS. I love when they sneak in kale, spinach and other superfoods into the protein powder. Like yeah, I rather have a chocolate banana smoothie than eat 1 cup of plain kale.

  5. PRICE. Of course we can all find amazing tasting, clean protein powders for like over a hundred bucks. But seriously? I can't afford $140 for 30 days worth of protein. This ones is less than $55 and if you read below I have a coupon code for you to save a little more on your order!

Introducing, my new favorite protein powder...

Rootz Nutrition's Post-Workout Paleo Protein Superfood Blend Chocolate Banana Nut flavor!

Smoothie Bowl

  • 1/2 frozen banana

  • 1/4 cup of almond milk (more or less depending on the consistency you like)

  • 1 scoop of Rootz Nutrition Chocolate Banana Nut Paleo Protein Superfood

  • Ice cubes

  1. In a high powered blender, add all of the smoothie ingredients and blend. PS Rootz is great because I usually have to add flax, chia, hemp, spinach, kale and other superfoods into my protein shakes every time I make them. But when I use Rootz, I just add the powder and that's it! I know I am still getting all of the nutrients from the superfoods in one scoop!

  2. Pour thick smoothie into a bowl (if time allows, place it in the freezer for 5 minutes so it sets - making it extra creamy).

  3. Top with my suggested toppings or any of your favorite toppings.

  4. Enjoy!
