Service Description

This dish is traditional for the Persian New Year, called Nowruz. It always takes place on the first day of spring. This year, it’s on Sunday, March, 21st! Its a time of year you get together with all of your family, and just enjoy life and its blessings! Typically we set up a Haft-seen spread, which includes symbolic items such as apples (to represent health), vinegar (to represent patience) and garlic (to represent cleansing of the body & environment). Because of the pandemic this year, many of us will not be able to spend Nowruz with our families, so I thought we could come together over Zoom and learn a traditional Persian New Year meal all together! You will learn how to make an herbed steamed persian rice, packed with flavors. This will be paired with white fish, I love using grouper, snapper, bass or salmon! Persian food is typically eaten with yogurt so I will teach you how to make a delicious cucumber yogurt sauce as well. Everything comes together in 1 hour! Once you sign up, you will receive a printable PDF with the the grocery shopping list and recipe details. We will talk through substitution ideas in case of allergies! I’ll teach you small tips on how to improve your day-to-day cooking! This class is gluten free, and has the option to be prepared dairy free! Come with questions! *One sign up per household.
